TIPS TO SUCCESSFUL CHANGE

 

 

   

  TIP #1:  If you want change in your life, it is important to tell
                yourself, "I CAN DO IT!"  

      Your subconscious mind listens to your words and creates what
      you tell yourself.  This one of its primary roles in your life.  It does
      what it is told!!  Imagine!  Hence, it is important to recognize that 
      it will do what it's told, no matter what you tell it.  So, be careful 
      what you are thinking and telling yourself.  Your subconscious 
      mind will be making it happen!!  

 

 

    When you checked the form a moment ago, what did you decide you wanted to change first?  Have you tried before to change this aspect of your life?  

    What happened?

 

What Is the Process of Creating Change?:

     For most people, changing habits requires time, focus and energy.  This would be acceptable if, after investing the requisite time, concentration and energy, you achieved SUCCESS!  That, of course, would be the ideal!    

     For many people, somewhere between starting enthusiastically to make a change and giving up significantly short of that goal, is a period of intense frustration!  Has this been the case for you?

 

 

TIP #2:  For successful change, create a behavior-specific plan.

      If you are going to drive your vehicle to a vacation destination, it 
        is important to have a plan of the specific roads you are going to
        travel to get there.  So, too, where making changes in your life. 
        The plan includes:     
                 a) Specifically, what change do you wish to make?
                b)  What steps will be required to do that?
                c)  What does it take to complete Step 1?
                d)  When are you going to start?

    TIP #3:  In order to succeed in reaching your destination, it is
                important to get your vehicle in road-worthy condition.

      To make a change successfully, it is important to create forward-
      movement in the direction of your goal.  First, you want to insure
      that your vehicle WORKS ... to accomplish your goal.  Then, you
      want to get it on the road!  In other words, for success in
      accomplishing any goal, it is essential that you GET STARTED!!

 

 

     This introduces the topic of hypnosis.  Hypnosis is a fitting vehicle to harness the power of your subconscious mind ... then to focus that power specifically upon the changes YOU WANT to make!

 

What Is Hypnosis & How Can Hypnosis Help?:

     Are you unsure what vehicle can successfully usher you to your goal?  Then, hypnosis can provide a solution.  Hypnosis works with you subconscious mind to create solid change in your life!  Not only do you focus your CONSCIOUS mind on the change, you also focus the substantial power of your SUBCONSCIOUS mind.  This combination -- your mind focused on one goal -- is an extremely powerful one, indeed!     

    In the mental state of hypnosis, your mind is alert and aware while your body is fully relaxed.  In this state, your subconscious mind accepts suggestion or positive direction.  It, then, carries out these suggestions when you are back in your ordinary daily activities.  Hence, hypnosis is MORE THAN wishing you could change.  The hypnotic state is the VERY MENTAL STATE that commands the change(s) to occur!

    Your mind -- Right Now! --  is ALREADY capable of experiencing the state of hypnosis.  The format of audiocassette tapes gives you the DIRECTIONS for achieving the state.  The tapes guide you into that state of mind.  Since you are relaxed, the experience of hypnosis is one that is comfortable and enjoyable!

          around and drove back to your home.  Would we be correct
          to presume that you did not really WANT to reach San
          Diego?  Or, at least, not badly enough?  Stopping before
          before you have reached your goal is one sure way to 
          make absolutely certain that you do NOT to reach your
          goal!!

     First of all, KNOW that you can make changes that drastically and significantly affect the myriad aspects of your life. What areas would you like to change?  As examples, take,  these ideas from our List of Conditions for LifeChange:  self-discipline or trust & self-confidence or releasing fear or managing anger or goal accomplishment or self-esteem & self-confidence or stopping smoking or weight management.

Now mark your current position on this continuum.

 

C. Are your two positions comparable? For example, If it is incredibly important to you to accomplish a goal(s) -- you marked this a "10," are you at "9" or "10"on how much you are willing to invest to accomplish the goal(s)? Or, if #1 is a "5," is #2 a "4" to "6"? Marking these two scales in this way is being realistic.

Success at whatever you choose to pursue requires a realistic outlook!  If your two positions were not comparable, what are you willing to change to make them so?

  • Are you willing to downgrade your desire for change? or

  • Are you willing to upgrade your investment in making that change?

Once your outlook is realistic, it is time to Make your Personalized Plan:

D. Designing Your Own Personalized Program for LifeChange:

1. a. What I really want in my life is

    Defining a goal in terms of the specific behaviors required to accomplish that goal is an important step in creating your Personalized Program Plan.  For example, if what you determined in #1 was that you want to be happier, you would decide what specific behaviors would contribute to you feeling increased happiness.  Perhaps it would be donating 1 hour/week to a good cause.  If this is the case for you, you might include calling volunteer organizations to find a place to volunteer as #3a below or talking to 3 of the suggested volunteer organizations might be #3a below, etc.  I have gotten you started and helped you to create this list by filling in step #2a, so you need only list 4 specific behaviors!

 

 

 

There you are!  If the steps (above) seem simple to you, then we are on the right pathway.  Change and growth occur in simple methods, which are sustained through practice!

 

 

    TIP #5:  Select a simple pathway ... frequently remind yourself of
                the program, "I can do it!" ... then continue until you
                reach your goal!

       Simple solutions work most effectively toward success!  When
       a solution is too complicated, it is difficult to maintain ... and, 
       often, difficult to get started in the first place.   Simple
       solutions not only make sense, they continue creating the
       successful steps that, ultimately, lead to the COMPLETE
       AND TOTAL accomplishment of your goal!
